Listed Barn Conversion in Kent

This conversion of an historic Grade II listed barn provides an apartment on the upper level and a billiard room with storage on the ground floor.

There were many complex issues and conditions relating to the listed building consent but by taking a cooperative, team-work approach with local authority planning and conservation officers, a successful project was delivered. A major strength of the design was that the conversion work did not affect the existing fabric of the building. For example, the new first floor is supported independently and does not cut into the original building fabric. The rooms are open plan with a bridge link, so that the central full-height open space is maintained.
